DSPE-PCB20은 리포플렉스(lipoplexes)의 혈청 안정성(serum stability)을 향상시키는 동일한 능력을 나타냈습니다. 그러나 PEGylation과는 상당히 다르게, 양쪽성 이온(zwitterionic) 특성을 가진 DSPE-PCB20은 siRNA 캡슐화 효율(siRNA encapsulation efficiency)과 리포플렉스의 엔도좀/리소좀 탈출 능력(endosomal/lysosomal escape ability)을 방해하지 않으면서 안정성을 제공할 수 있었습니다. 이러한 특성은 siRNA의 전신 전달(systemic delivery of siRNA)에 유리하게 작용합니다.
